🧷 Three Sizes, Because Storage Problems Never Arrive in One Size

The reason single baskets disappoint is scale mismatch. Buy one large and your hair ties rattle around in forty litres of nothing. Buy one small and the blankets don't fit. Storage works when the container matches the contents, which is why this arrives as a graduated set: a small for the fiddly things, a medium for the daily things, a large for the bulky things. 🧵 The two halves of the product

The wicker shell. Woven willow rods over a rigid frame, in a tight over-under weave that holds a square corner. Square matters on a shelf, because round baskets waste the corners and square ones use the whole depth. The rim is bound and the base has a raised outer edge so the basket rests on its frame rather than on the weave.

The fabric liner. Cream cotton with a lace-edged top hem, cut to the basket's interior, held on with a fabric ribbon tied through the wall at each side. It does three things at once: hides contents so a shelf reads calm instead of busy, stops small items slipping through the weave, and protects folded fabric from catching on a willow end. Untie four ribbons and it comes out for a wash, which is the part that makes this set survive a nursery.

All three fit standard 30 cm deep shelving. Nested together they stack to roughly the height of the large basket alone.

🧺 Laundering the liners without shrinking them

1. Untie the four ribbons and lift the liner straight out, no need to turn it inside out.
2. Cold wash, 30 °C, gentle cycle, in a mesh bag so the lace trim doesn't catch.
3. Skip the tumble dryer. Cotton with a lace hem shrinks and puckers in heat.
4. Line dry, then refit while very slightly damp so it settles smoothly against the walls.
5. Re-tie the ribbons snug but not tight, the fabric needs a little slack at the corners.

🌿 Looking after the wicker

• Dust with a soft dry brush, following the weave direction.
• Wipe spills quickly with a barely damp cloth, then dry properly. Willow does not enjoy sitting wet.
• Keep them out of prolonged direct sun, which fades and dries the rods.
• If a willow tip lifts, snip it flush rather than tugging it loose.
• Very dry heated rooms can make wicker brittle over years, so a light seasonal mist keeps it flexible.
